...... vol. 9

"Start with something that is not too difficult to learn or too overwhelming...

because once you see these 10,000 buttons and all these infinite possibilities of arranging things...

it just becomes SO MUCH...you just lose yourself...

you should start with something that cannot accommodate you fully.

So you strive for more...to realize this is something I want to do.

But then you think 'daym this doesn't have that capability'

So then you work a little harder, You save a little money...

and it makes you appreciate it.

From that point on, your beginning to master all the equipment you use.

You can't master a full on studio in a year. Forget about it.

But what you can master is the art of music, the art of using small equipment, and the art to expand.

There is always equipment that emulates old things, but if you don't know these old things...what's the purpose"

-Chad Hugo/Pharell Williams

I stumbled across this video today while looking for videos about producing. I ran across this video of the neptunes talking about how they started, and it really hit me how metaphoric it was to me in such an ironic way.

Music will forever be one of my passions in life. Music will always teach, I will always learn. So it was crazy to think this 'advice' in starting to produce would teach me such a life lesson.

I should stop always wanting more. I have not even taken the time to fully understand, learn, and cherish what and who i have around me...I must take time to develop those relationships, fix the problems, and from there I can grow, from there I can expand, from there I can build.

Stop moving so fast...Don't "lose yourself"
